Pair of Antique Kork Kashan Garden Prayer Rugs, circa 1925–1935

A rare matched pair of Kork Kashan prayer rugs, woven in fine kork wool around 1925–1935. Under each red prayer arch grows a garden of trees and blossoms, and at its heart is a 'doornama', a painted window onto a landscape with a lake, houses and a far hillside. Blue spandrels, flowering vases and a deep navy floral border complete the composition. Pairs like these were woven together for a single family and are seldom kept together; here they remain as one.
