Fine Antique Tabriz from the Ballantyne Collection
In the 20th century, the city of Tabriz established itself as a powerhouse in fine Persian rug production. Tabriz rugs are predominately woven with the Senneh knotting technique with fine virgin wool and natural silk as the preferred choice of materials. Tabriz rugs have the highest range of designs and colours. The diverse range of ornaments vary from Shah-Abbasi motifs, continuous rapport motifs (including Mahi and Botteh motifs), old nomad patterns, and hunting and tree motifs.
