Originating in northwest Persia, the rugs of Bijar have nicknamed the Iron Rug and are among the most solid and highest quality hand-knotted rugs in the world. Kurdish weavers primarily make them. The rugs produced in this region are very dense and thick so that they are almost indestructible, which is achieved by special binding and knotting techniques.
